[Affiliate Marketing Journal] Then I remembered another month where I had exactly 39 hits from StumbledUpon.com, an alleged social bookmarking site whose link in your referral stats takes you to a page which says, basically, "Look how much traffic we've already sent you - wouldn't you like to buy some more from us now?" Referral spam.
[A Daily Rant] in the comment and putting the spam links into the “story” - I guess this is an attempt to bypass the spam filters much the same way these bottom feeders do to bypass email filters in email spam.
[Spamhuntress] Null-routing complainers July 20th, 2006 I was talking too soon about US webhosts understanding about webspam. One of them just nullrouted the IP to my webserver, from their webserver. Translation: They don’t know, or don’t care, to stop the spamming, and will prevent the spamming from reaching my website, in order to stop me from complaining. They just waved a big red TENT in front of my eyes, that’s what they did! They better figure out how to stop that spamming, and TELL ME, or I’ll be so incredibly tempted to tell the world exactly what webhost this is. [Spamhuntress] I made posting links and HTML something you earn over time, not for first time posters until it’s obvious they’re real members, as this defeats the purpose of spamming as they have to work to get to that level and losing it sets them back enormously.

Apparently the no follow tag is only used in the featured listings clients (pay per click) as according to them, to screen out unqualified search engine bot clicks.

It's about creating a democratic collective of all of us here who care about preserving the freedom of choice of youTube. If we don't do something, it will soon be overrun by spam, hollywood (see the new featured Zach Braff vid promotion as example - which BTW doesn't allow comments, how democratic), embedded advertising, etc. We need to preserve our right to find and choose what we want to watch. Otherwise, hollywood, advertisers, and business will overshadow it all, and YT will be another force fed ad/tv zone.
