Spam Karma reset « Climate Audit
[Climate Audit] We’ve had a few new posters fail to negotiate the Spam Karma filter, possibly because of using the same domain for e-mail as spammers use. Also, if you see the comment numbers appear to desynchronize from the quoted comment numbers, its much more likely to be because Steve or myself have restored a comment or two from the Spam Karma filter that should not have been there.

rc3.org - Spammers gaming Google
[rc3.org] For years I’ve avoided Google for certain types of searches, but it’s true things seem to be getting worse. We’re planning a move to a new town in a few months and searching for the most basic information on grocery stores, internet access, etc, only results in a morass of useless pages that have no real content at all, and certainly nothing remotely local.

Facebook sues social network spammers | PogoWasRight.org
[PogoWasRight.org] A lawsuit filed in an unspecified federal court charges Jeremi Fisher, Philip Porembski, and Ryan Shimeall of “phishing Facebook users and sending spam from their accounts”, the social networking website said in a statement. Also named as defendants are Choko Systems, Harm, Inc., and iMedia Online Services, LLC, three firms associated with the alleged spammers.

Nofollow List - An alternative to Drupal's spam link deterrent ...

And the reason this is necessary is that when you have a membership site and you allow users to create content on it, you inadvertently attract spammers who want to drop links back to their own site.
