HTTP Referrer Spam Checker
[JasonLau.biz] Referrer spam is when a person or bot fakes a link hit from another website to your website. So, when your logging script records the visit, it records the referring website address, which is also faked by the spammer. Typically, the referral URL address leads to pornographic websites or those selling pharmaceuticals.

ALERT: Don't Friend Facebook's Suggested Spammers
[All Facebook] and spam page walls and have no wall posts on their own profile, or have nonsensical ramblings like “can somebody make me happy”. The people who friend these profiles are truly the ones who need to be removed from the gene pool, esp if you fail to do your duty and report the damn things as fake.

Comment Spam: Phentermine, Xanax and Blackjack
[Make Money Online Guide] The reasons I comment spammed are no different to why our Phentermine, Xanax and Blackjack (oh my) friends are spamming my blog today, it’s money. If a comment spammed link counts as a backlink to Google the site gains valuable PR/link benefit which increase it’s SERPs over time.

WordPress Comments and rel=nofollow
[Make Money Online Guide] My experience of owning blogs agrees with the above, most comments are indeed SPAM :-( So I fully understand why the WordPress developers have taken this step due to the plethora of blog comment SPAM currently plaguing the blogosphere, but it comes at a cost to WordPress users, real commenter’s no longer get a link back to their site and this is bad for blogging!

New Twitter Tweet Button (Conveniently Without Nofollow Attribute ...
[Hobo] It’s not those links, it’s the link on the button you put on your website, is a straight link from the page, to Twitter’s domain. In the future, the target page could be modified to spread PR to the Twitter domain, although at the moment, there does seem to be a direct link on the share page anyway….
