Targeting Spam > Amusement Corner

http://aadroma.livejournal.com [Roger Nyström's Journal] Yeah, I had that earlier today -- I've before commented about the site Spamusement, where spam subject lines are interpreted in various quickly-drawn cartoons. The most active part of the site for a while's been the forum where other people offer up masterpieces like this comic here.

http://jerryandcornelius.blogspot.com  Censorial Nerd Jury: Since this past Monday, there has been an uproar from lots of people, bloggers, and gay and lesbian groups, saying that the commercial (and most especially its alternate endings on the website, as well as videos of negative reactions by Bears and Colts players, which you can also find on YouTube if you want, just seach for "Snickers ad") uses homophobia as a source of humor and promotes violence against gays and lesbians. I agree with these viewpoints, but I can also realize that the commercial and the reactions of the men (who are assumed to be straight and were made out to be social Neanderthals) were just meant to be ridiculous. http://www.x-entertainment.com [X-entertainment.com] The X-Entertainment Blog!: Course, it was no easy task explaining to him that this -- a snowman-shaped mac & cheese dinner with cartoon penguins all over the box -- was "for work." I tried to bribe him away from tears with a really old package of Twizzlers, but licorice couldn't hold a candle to frozen corn and odd-shaped pasta. Five bucks did the trick, though.

http://stevegilliard.blogspot.com [Stevegilliard.blogspot.com] THE NEWS BLOG: Anti-Wal-Mart leader Richard Lipsky writes on the Neighborhood Retail Alliance's blog that a key element of the campaign against the company is a "conservative populist" appeal: that Wal-Mart will destroy the commercial fabric of the city. Propounding what he calls the "neighborhood character" argument, Lipsky holds forth: "For conservative Wal-Mart supporters who have never lived in an urban atmosphere, it is difficult to comprehend the importance of walk-to-shop commercial strips, mom-and-pop shops, and the general aversion to suburban-style developments."

All of which would mean something if I actually sold advertising.
