Comment & Referrer Spam Marga's Vox Publica
[Marga's Vox Publica] pl (Poland). I anticipate that for every junk referrer I block, another will take its place at the top of my referrer stats. I’m not sure if there is anything I can do about this beyond manually blocking them. Google, on the other hand, could just stop indexing stat files and make this problem moot.

I am tired of referrer spam jacking up my blog stats! « My Ever ...
[My Ever Changing Moods] Some people feel it’s counterproductive to repeatedly report these links when a spammer will just come up with more links to spam with, and even when the WordPress team deletes referrer spam from one’s stats, the amount of fake hits that came from the spam links are still tallied in the daily stats. I don’t care if it seems counterproductive—by reporting these ridiculous links, I feel I’m doing something to help in the fight against referrer spam, and hopefully WordPress will come up with a more permanent solution.

measures against referrer spam
[Piwik Forums - Piwik General Questions] Hmm, I've never heard of referrer spam that actually loads a page (piwik only reads a hit when the javascript is loaded). Referrer spam usually just involves pinging the page, so any php scripts or internal logs such as webalizer will read a hit, but piwik, google analytics, etc.

Hit By Referrer Spam
[Che-Cheh] The technique involves making repeated web site requests using a fake referrer url that points to the site the spammer wishes to advertise. Sites that publicize their access logs, including referrer statistics, will then end up linking to the spammer’s site, which will in turn be indexed by the search engines as they crawl the access logs.

Past Time For MSN To Pony Up To The Real Truth About Referrer Spam ...
